When Is Altseason Coming?

It’s December 2024.

You’re sitting there, staring at your crypto portfolio, waiting for altcoins to finally take off.

Everyone said altseason would be here by now. “Just wait for December,” they said.

But it’s February 2025, and instead of mooning, your altcoins are sitting there like a forgotten bag of potatoes.

What happened?

Where’s the action?

And more importantly—when will it start?

The Classic Altseason Recipe (That Hasn’t Cooked Yet)

Historically, altseasons follow a simple recipe:

First, Bitcoin’s halving happens (which it did in April 2024), then:

1. Bitcoin leads the way. BTC rallies, bringing hype and new money into crypto.

2. Bitcoin cools off. Once BTC stops stealing the show, investors look for the next big thing.

3. Altcoins start pumping. Big caps like Ethereum, Solana, and XRP take off first, followed by mid and small caps.

4. The meme frenzy begins. Dog coins, frog coins, and tokens named after cartoon villains suddenly go parabolic.

If history repeated itself, altseason should have started around December 2024—235 days post-halving.

But here we are, and it still hasn’t shown up. So, what’s different this time?

Why Hasn’t Altseason Started Yet?

1. Bitcoin is Still Stealing the Spotlight. BTC is sitting at $96,000, and institutions are stacking it like it’s going out of style. When all the money is flowing into Bitcoin, altcoins get left in the dust.

2. Trump is Back, and Crypto is Thriving (Sort Of). With Trump in office again, crypto regulations have eased up, leading to more institutional confidence. But instead of fueling altcoins, big players are just piling into Bitcoin and ETFs.

3. The Economy is Still a Mess. Inflation is cooling, but high interest rates mean people are still cautious about throwing money into speculative assets like small-cap altcoins.

4. Institutions Love Bitcoin (Altcoins? Not So Much… Yet). BlackRock and Fidelity’s spot Bitcoin ETFs have brought in billions. But that money hasn’t trickled down to altcoins… yet.

5. Memecoin Mania is Still Going On. With all influential figures launching their own meme coins (and rug-pulling them a couple of days later), the general public preferred to invest in memes in hopes of 100x their investment instead of “the traditional” tokens that can “only do 5x.”

So, When Will Altseason Actually Start?

If history is still somewhat reliable, the delay in altseason suggests, our prediction is it could finally start around March 2025. 

Here’s why:

• Bitcoin is expected to hit new all-time highs in Q1 2025, which usually precedes a shift in market dominance.

• AI, DeFi, and Layer 2 projects are heating up. Institutional money might start shifting toward these emerging sectors soon.

• Retail FOMO is creeping back. When meme coins are starting to see spikes, it is often an early sign that altseason is brewing.

How to Prepare for Altseason

1. Get in Early. The best gains happen before mainstream hype kicks in. (Ever heard about ETH? People are telling us, its a little undervalued right now…)

2. Bet on Utility, Not Just Hype. AI, DeFi, and strong Layer 2 projects could be the stars of this cycle. (ETH, SOL, ADA, XRP, …)

3. Know When to Take Profits. Don’t be the person who rides a 10x gain all the way back down to zero.

Tick tock... the countdown to altseason is still on.
